Many stadiums and arenas have no trouble attracting guests thanks to legions of fans for the teams and entertainers they host. Major League Baseball teams host 81 home games each season, drawing anywhere from 10,000 to 48,000 fans for each game. Concerts can bring in even more robust crowds to venues, particularly for popular performers such as Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Beyoncé. In the not too distant future, an increasing number of guests will be traveling to and from stadiums in electric vehicles. Approximately 50 percent of all new car sales are expected to be electric vehicles by 2030, according to reports from EVAdoption.
Arenas and entertainment venues have a lucrative opportunity to prepare for the impending transition and continue to drive large crowds by installing EV charging stations. While most EV charging is done overnight, sporting events and concerts can last more than four hours on some occasions, providing ample charging time for EV drivers in attendance. With fans typically spending more time on site during their visits, stadiums with EV charging stations will soon have a distinct advantage over those without as drivers everywhere continue to make the switch to electric vehicles.
